Taupō District Council’s Arts and Cultural Action Plan 2022 is the first step in formulating a strategy that positions arts, culture and ngā toi as a key priority in the long-term development of the district.
The Taupō District’s Long-term Plan for 2021-2031 makes clear the council’s ambition in this space, stipulating that in response to feedback from the community the council is committed to developing a strategic approach to support Arts and Culture alongside Sports and Recreation in the district.
This operational Council Plan and Guideline is intended to assist in staff decision making on Revegetation Plantings on land administered by Taupō District Council.
The guide may also be used to inform best practice planting and maintenance methodologies for Revegetation Plantings as part of other community planting programmes, environmental restoration on other land, and mitigation planting as part of a resource consent process.
Taupō is a smoke and vape free district, under the Taupō District Council Smokefree Action Plan launched in 2019.
The plan supports the Government’s goal for New Zealand to become a smokefree country by 2025 and covers public places across the district, including the lakefront, that will now be smoke and vape free.
While it's not a by-law, the plan aims to use education and awareness to reduce smoking and vaping.
The Taupo community has identified 12 key values they want to protect for the future of Lake Taupo. These values form the foundation for this plan.
All of us are responsible for key actions in the 2020 Taupo-nui-a-Tia Action Plan and are working together to protect the Lake for future generations.
The strategy represents three years of commitment from the following groups: 2020 Joint Management Group and Project Team, 2020 Forum, Tuwharetoa Maori Trust Board, Environment Waikato, Taupo District Council, Department of Conservation, Department of Internal Affairs and the Lakes and Waterways Action Group.
