Getting around Taupō

The Taupō town centre was transformed in 2021, with a new road layout and award winning community space, Te Ātea. If you haven't visited Taupō recently, we hope you'll be pleasantly surprised with the changes.

Event traffic management 2025

Mobility parking in Taupō town centre

There are many mobility parking spots scattered across the Taupō town centre. But did you know that there is a dedicated hub of mobility parking right beside Taupō Library on Story Place? Perfect for accessing the town centre for shopping and dining.

From the north:

  • Head along Tongariro Street
  • Take a right at the roundabout onto Story Place
  • Take a right to the Taupō Library
  • Turn left to find the hub of mobility parking

From the south:

  • Head along Lake Terrace
  • Turn right onto Tītīraupenga Street
  • Turn left on Te Heuheu Street
  • Continue straight through the roundabout to Story Place
  • Turn right to the Taupō Library hub of mobility parking.
