AC Baths Swim School gets national recognition
13 April 2017
The AC Baths Swim School has continued on its award winning way after receiving a 'Recognition of Contribution Award' at the 2017 Swimming New Zealand Awards last weekend.
The swim school was nominated in the 'Quality Swim Schools' section at the national swimming awards and out of hundreds of nationwide entries, it was one of only eight to receive the coveted award.
Pools and activities operations manager Nigel Newbery and swim school supervisor Lorraine Te Punga were on hand to accept the award.
"I couldn't be more proud of the team for the work they do and it is great to see this being recognised on the national stage," Mr Newbery said.
"Our swim school team take great pride in helping children grow their confidence in the water and it is a job they take incredibly seriously. This award is a reflection of their commitment and dedication and firmly establishes us as leaders in the learn-to-swim industry," he said.
The swim school teaches around 900 children each term. It is so popular there is currently a wait-list for classes.
In 2013 it won the Outstanding Swim School of the Year award for 'Under 1000 people in a learn to swim programme'. That year it also won the Quality Swim School of the Year Award.
