Candidate profile information now available
The community now has a chance to find out more about the people who have put their hand up to look after the place we love.
The 2016 Local Government Election Candidates Booklet for the Taupo District is available on the council's website and gives voters the chance to find out more about each candidate. Profiles have been submitted by individual candidates and include insights into the issues that matter to them and what they would look to focus on if elected.
Democracy and community engagement manager Tina Jakes said the candidate profile information will help voters when it comes to filling out their voting papers.
"Voting means you can have your say on who will make important decisions about issues that affect our communities."
It's now less than six weeks until the local elections on October 8 and anyone who hadn't enrolled to vote by 12 August won't get their voting papers automatically sent to them.
"Those who aren't enrolled will need to contact a Taupo District Council office to arrange voting papers," Ms Jakes said.
Voting papers will start to be delivered from September 16 and once received and completed, voting forms should be filled out and returned to the electoral officer in the pre-paid envelope included in voting packs. Papers need to be returned before voting closes at noon on October 8.
