Friends of the Taupo Museum bring Mirror Magic exhibition to Taupo
The Friends of the Taupo Museum are excited to present the 'Mirror Magic' exhibition to Taupo.
Mirror Magic takes you beyond the looking glass and into the crazy back-to front, upside-down world of reflections and light.
The incredible properties of mirrors inspire people from all walks of life. Magicians use them to create illusions, scientists use them within a microscope to enable us to see things which are too small to be seen with the naked eye, and artists use them to explore the nature of reality. Mirrors are quite magical and this exhibition allows you to delve into some of their amazing properties and many uses in fun and exciting ways.
Mirror Magic is a fully interactive, entertaining and revealing exhibition using mirrors to explore the science of reflections and reflected light. Loads of hands-on experiences to investigate and in-depth science explanations for the phenomena being observed are key features, making Mirror Magic a highly engaging and interactive learning experience.
The exhibition is popular with families and enjoyed by both adults and children alike. It also attracts schools, and is relevant for the topic 'Making sense of the physical world' which is included in the current science curriculum for young learners.
Many of the exhibits can be repeated, with the possibility of varied results obtained with different inputs, allowing for a lot of experimentation.
Mirror Magic was designed and developed by Te Manawa Museum of Art, Science and History in Palmerston North.
The exhibition runs from Tuesday, July 3 to Sunday, August 5.
