Intersection work moves up the street
29 October 2015
The upgrade of three town centre intersections is progressing well, with the demolition of the gardens at Tongariro and Tamamutu streets starting this week.
This is the final intersection scheduled for an upgrade out of three in the town centre. The gardens and paving are being upgraded to improve visibility and safety and make them more attractive and user-friendly.
The intersection of Ruapehu and Tamamutu streets has been completed, with gardens planted out earlier this month, and work is continuing at the intersection of Gascoigne and Tamamutu streets. Work at this intersection is expected to be completed by early November.
The intersection of Tongariro and Tamamutu streets is the last one planned for the revamp, and once the demolition is completed, contractors will begin working on the paving and garden construction.
