Pakeke Lions donate Lego for library learning
Everything is awesome at Taupo Library with the Pakeke Lions having recently donated a supply of Lego basic construction blocks to the value of $350.
Spencer Wallace from the Pakeke Lions approached library staff to discuss what would be of benefit to donate. He was keen on the idea of purchasing Lego and once he realised the library were looking for sponsors for this he gained approval.
The Lions are keen to see the expansion of the holiday programmes to include Lego-based activities as an opportunity for children to demonstrate their creative talent.
Lego is a widely accepted learning tool used in education and learning environments. In addition to our library, others world-wide have embraced the use of Lego successfully to help with reading, literacy and teamwork.
"We are keen to build up the amount of Lego we have, to implement some fun activities where children can work together to create" says librarian Tracey Mischewski.
Do you have some Lego you'd like to donate?
If you have any lying around you would like to give to a good home, feel free to drop it in to the library.
