Kerbing and channelling work restarts

Work on renewing kerbing and channelling in Turangi township is back on track after being interrupted by Alert Levels 3 and 4.
The renewals are part of a planned work programme that began last year with a budget of $448,593, and infrastructure manager Denis Lewis said the contractors are focusing on Te Iwiheki Road, including Te Wharekaihua Grove and Parekarangi Grove, with work on the Te Rangitautahanga Rd area to follow.
“Some of the kerbing has been damaged by trees, but it is mostly a case of general wear and tear over time. Renewing the kerbing and channelling will help improve drainage, and it is safer for pedestrians, but we will also be reinstating some driveways where necessary,” he said.
