Just planting remaining to finish Paetiki shops upgrade
Contractors have finished their makeover of the Paetiki shopping area with just planting to go in the new garden area.
Camex has carried out the $200,000 makeover to make the area a safer, more attractive and more user-friendly environment.
The project was budgeted for in the Long-term Plan after a submission asking for improvements to the area.
The work included an upgraded mobility carpark, four new carparks outside Supervalue Paetiki, the concreting of the roundabout, pedestrian refuge islands on Taharepa Road, new kerbing and the redevelopment of the corner by the shops to include landscaping and seating.
The area is now open without restriction for traffic and pedestrians.
Our parks and reserves team will now plant the garden area with natives to create a green space outside the shops.
Infrastructure manager Denis Lewis wanted to thank the community for its patience during the work.
“It’s been a big project for a small area that required care and consideration from motorists and pedestrians, and some disruption to shops and customers,” he said. “Thanks to everyone for looking after our contractors, slowing down and driving with care during this work.”
There is still work ongoing nearby as contractors work on the water main renewal in the area.
