Kinloch wastewater treatment plant upgrade

The Kinloch wastewater treatment plant is being upgraded, to increase its capacity to treat wastewater and accommodate ongoing and future growth in Kinloch.

Taupō District Council infrastructure manager Denis Lewis said the $15.5 million upgrade will improve the reliability and resilience of the plant.

“In order to ensure the plant meets the needs of the community, both now and into the future, it needs significant investment to increase its capacity.

“This upgrade also ensures we continue to manage our waste responsibly, in a way that protects people’s health and is environmentally sustainable.”

Mr Lewis said there will be some minor disruption to households directly surrounding the plant, and committed to keeping the community updated as the work progresses.

“Thank you for your patience and understanding while we upgrade this treatment plant and future-proof it for the Kinloch community.”

Work is getting underway this month and is expected to be completed by March 2022. The project is being undertaken by Spartan Construction on behalf of council.
