Stormwater upgrade on Crown Road
The southern end of Crown Road is currently under temporary stop/go traffic management until Wednesday, 1 December while contractors upgrade a stormwater pipe beneath the road.
Project manager Nic Beacock said the work was being carried out at the Napier Road end of Crown Road, near Bella George Lane.
“The work is being done to make our stormwater infrastructure in the area much more resilient,” he said, “and will involve installing a large diameter polyethylene pipe feeding down into the gully and a concrete pipe connecting to it beneath the road surface. This work will channel heavy run off that we get in storm events through into the stormwater system and avoid the possibility of washouts occurring.
“As always, we are asking people to drive with caution around the work site and please be patient, the team will be working as quickly as possible.”
