What do you stand for? He aha tāu e wawata nei?
It's local government elections in October and it’s time for people to consider whether they want to stand. Taupō District Council’s representation arrangements for this election are: Mayor, elected at large, plus 12 councillors: two from the new district-wide Māori ward Te Papamārearea, one from Taupō East Rural ward, one from the Tūrangi-Tongariro ward, one from Mangakino-Pouakani ward and seven from Taupō ward.
Taupō District Council’s electoral officer Warwick Lampp will be hosting a series of candidate briefings in the Taupō district at the end of June. Any interested or intending candidates are welcome to come along to find out more and ask questions.
Candidate briefing sessions will be held as follows:
• Monday 27 June, 1pm: Mangakino Service Centre, Rangatira Drive, Mangakino
• Monday 27 June, 6pm: Tūrangi i-Site, 1 Ngawaka Place, Tūrangi
• Tuesday 28 June, 6.30pm: Council Chamber, 107 te Heuheu Street, Taupō
