Applications now open for waste minimisation fund
If you have a great idea on how to reduce waste, or reuse or recover materials that would otherwise end up in the landfill, our waste minimisation fund could help bring that idea to life!
The last round of funding went to projects ranging from a community car seat recycling programme, a local community garden implementing a food waste collection feasibility study, to the creation of a community men’s shed for the purpose of upcycling and giving new life to pre-loved items.
We’re excited to see what waste-minimising projects people come up with this year!
To apply, your project must be based within the Taupō District or mostly benefit the local community. The last day to submit an application is Friday, 16 September. Grants are available for up to $2,000 for any project that contributes to waste minimisation, waste avoidance, reduction of waste to landfill, and/or the recovery of materials or energy. These grants are funded by the national waste levy which is set by the Ministry for the Environment.
