Consultation to come on Lake Maraetai Lakeside concepts
The public will have an opportunity to have its say on concept plans for the redevelopment of the Mangakino Reserve and Maraetai Lakefront.
In 2017, the Mangakino community, key stakeholders and user groups were surveyed to help develop a plan to better manage the increase in activity at the Mangakino Lakefront.
From this work, the Lake Maraetai Lakeside Development Plan was produced.
Council’s consultants took the feedback and developed the current concept plan for consultation.
Council will be holding community consultation sessions in Mangakino, and these dates, times and locations will be publicised.
In Council’s Long-term Plan the following items for Mangakino have been identified for this year:
- Renewal of the toilet block at the lakefront.
- Renewal of the jetty/boat ramp.
- Road to be sealed to the boat ramp
- Vehicle crossing/entrance off Lake Road onto the reserve between the Pouakani Marae and the Te Awhina Hall (formerly the Mangakino Bowling Club)
Completing this work will be dependent on availability of supplies and contractors while keeping within budget.
Any other items in the concept plan will be budgeted for in the next Council Long-term Plan, which is 18 months away. Those plans will be open to public consultation within the Long-term Plan process.
