As we approach the end of the week, we’ve been reflecting on what a massive week it has been for our district.
We’ve collected some of the stats which show, even though the Taupō District got off comparatively lightly, the epic recovery task the team faced following Cyclone Gabrielle.
The result of this is there are countless shout outs that need to be given. One of those is to all who helped us share crucial messages. The fact our social media posts with information on the cyclone had 25,000 likes, comments and shares shows how the community helped spread important messages and keep each other safe. Pat yourselves on the back, help yourself to some treats and take some time off this weekend because you deserve it!
Another crucial part of the response was our staff in the contact centre and customer service centres who, as you can see from the stats, pulled off a mammoth shift responding to an overwhelming number of queries. Many of those calls were from people offering to volunteer with the recovery – amazing!
Our recovery continues and we urge you all to stay safe, but hopefully these stats help show what a great community we live in.
