The Conserve Water Notice for Kinloch and Whakaroa has been lifted this morning.

Thanks so much for helping out by conserving water over the last few days, our team really appreciate it!

Thank you to everyone in Kinloch and Whakaroa who has been conserving water and helping to take the pressure off our water treatment team – taking a shorter shower and abstaining from washing the dog means we’re looking good!

Our reservoir levels are holding nicely and with the wind predicted to settle later today we’re hoping to be back to normal in the near future. Until then keep up the good work and please continue to conserve water wherever possible.

The super windy weather has been stirring up the lake bed and that’s not good for our water intake.

The water team are working hard to keep up supply and we’re asking Kinloch and Whakaroa residents for your help: please conserve water to take the pressure off the treatment plant until further notice.

Water use for cooking and drinking is fine, but maybe hold off on that long hot bath or shower, and use this as the perfect excuse to not wash the car!

Thanks for your cooperation – we will be monitoring the situation closely overnight and will update everyone as soon as we can in the morning.

Some other useful tips:

  • Only flush your toilet if necessary - if it's yellow, let it mellow!
  • Don't run water while washing teeth, preparing food etc.
  • Wash only full loads in your washing machine or dishwasher.
  • Hold off on those sprinklers and hoses for the time being.
