Changes to Taupō traffic light sequences

Our lakefront upgrade is virtually complete and we’re looking forward to celebrating the summer down at Te Ātea!

The overhead lights are on and you’ll soon see bean bags and lawn games out on the grass. With all the changes to our cross-town traffic routenow in place we’ve also tweaked both the Tītīraupenga Street/te Heuheu Street and Spa Road/Tītīraupenga Street/Oruanui Road traffic light sequences.

From Friday 15 December the traffic lights will now allow right turns to be made on a straight-through green phase, but with the usual intersection give way rules applying. Please note that this change will only be applied to the Spa Road lights during night hours when traffic volumes are lower.

As always, it’s going to be a busy summer in our district and the light changes will help traffic to flow more smoothly.

They will also make for a much more sleigh-friendly trip into town on the 24th for Donna, Blitzen, and the big guy!
