District Plan

The District Plan sets out the policies and rules council uses to manage the use of land in the district.

The District Plan is available as an electronic map-based, searchable tool, combining a traditional plan document with mapping capabilities and user-friendly features.

District Plan Changes

Most of our District Plan is over ten years old, and the Resource Management Act says we need to kick off a review at 10 years. Taupō district has grown and changed a lot in that time and some of the rules are no longer appropriate.

To ensure the District Plan is effective for the current day and the things our community want to do, we are reviewing several specific parts of the plan that have the most issues - and we'll look to resolve these through a series of plan changes.

Changes to Taupō District Plan Carparking Requirements

Changes have been made to the Taupō District Plan to meet the requirements of the National Policy Statement Urban Development 2020 (NPSUD) that relate to onsite carparking requirements.
