Level 1 water restrictions now in place for Kinloch

  • Sprinklers may be used on alternate days only, using the odds and evens system based on your street address.
  • Hand-held hoses can be used anytime.
  • While restrictions are not in place for the rest of the Taupo District, we ask everyone to use water mindfully.

Using sprinklers on alternate days

Sprinklers may be used on alternate days only, using the odds and evens system based on your street address.

That means if your address ends in 0, 2, 4, 6 or 8, you can use sprinklers on even calendar days. If your address ends in 1, 3, 5, 7 or 9, you can use sprinklers on odd calendar days.

Why do we have water restrictions?

Why do we have water restrictions when there’s heaps of water in the lake?

It’s not how much water is in the lake, it’s about how much water has to be treated and distributed everyday to keep up with demand. More people in our district at this time of year, means more pressure on our water supply. We can all play a part in easing the pressure.

Our water is precious – let’s use it wisely!
