Get ready to rock with the Taupō Summer Concert this Saturday!

A warm welcome to the bands, fans, and everyone attending the Summer Concert this Saturday 25 January at the Taupō Amphitheatre, Riverside Park.

Taupō will host one of New Zealand's most highly anticipated summer festivals and hear stellar performances from sensational International acts including Cold Chisel, Icehouse, Bic Runga and Everclear.

Plan your trip

There will be lots of traffic and pedestrian activity in and around the town centre so plan your travel. If you are not attending the concert, you might want to avoid the area during the busy times before and after the concert. Expect busy roads between 9am to 1pm and 5pm to 8pm on Saturday. Use the ETA (East Taupō Arterial) bypass highway to get around if you can.

Concert car parking

There are two car parks available for the Summer Concert. Spaces are limited so consider walking to the event.

🅿️ Tongariro North Domain is open for parking on Saturday. Northbound traffic should use this carpark with entry and exit via the northbound lane of Tongariro Street. There are several options you can take through the CBD (e.g. Ruapehu Street and te Heuheu Street) to avoid the busy Spa Road roundabout area.

🅿️ Gates Park. Southbound traffic can access Gates Park car park north of the Control Gates Bridge or use street parking in the upper Spa Road area (Oruanui/Nukuhau/Runanga Streets) for easy access to Taupō Amphitheatre.

🅿️ There are also heaps of free and all-day parking spots around town. Find the best places to park at www.taupodc.govt.nz/parking

Other closures and restrictions

🚫 Redoubt Street from Tongariro Street to Story Place is closed from 12pm Friday 24 January to 12am Saturday 25 January.

🛑 Tongariro Street from 6pm to 8pm Saturday 25 January will have a Stop-Go in place to help concert-goers get home safely.

🛑 The Lake Taupō Harbourmaster has advised the Waikato River has restrictions from 6am to 11pm on Saturday. No vessel may anchor or secure to the banks without the Harbourmaster’s authority. Nukuhau Marina and boat ramp access is normal.

🚫 Riverside Park dump station will be closed from 5pm Thursday 23 January to Sunday 26 January. Please use the closest alternative sites located at Stag Park, Napier Road or Two Mile Bay Boat Ramp.
