Wastewater overflow reaches lakefront opposite Rifle Range Road
A blocked wastewater pipe in central Taupō has led to some wastewater reaching the lakefront.
Wastewater overflows can get into our stormwater network; and because our Taupō stormwater network empties to the lake, some wastewater has reached the lakefront opposite Rifle Range Road.
We have put up No Swimming signs as a precaution and will be doing water sampling to check that the water is safe. In the meantime, please stay out of the water in this area until further notice.
The usual causes of blocked wastewater pipes are wet wipes, fat and rags. Please remember to only flush the three P’s – pee, paper and poo.
