Playground renewals and upgrades
We have a regular programme of playground renewals and upgrades to improve play experiences for our tamariki. As much as we’d love to upgrade everything at once, with 60 playgrounds around the district we need to balance affordability with the need to ensure playgrounds around the district are in good condition and meet safety standards. All playground equipment across the district is carefully monitored and reviewed to make sure it stays safe for everyone to play on.
We're often asked about our playground upgrades, and we know they can be a hot topic – we all love a great playground! While we don’t have set dates for renewals at every playground in the district we will keep everyone in the loop with updates on our Council website, Facebook page, Antenno app, Connect email newsletters and signage at the playgrounds when renewals are planned.
Like most things, the cost of playground equipment has increased significantly in recent years. Budgets and plans for playground renewals are set in our Long-term Plan and as always, we welcome feedback and submissions from the community as part of this process.
