Sportsgrounds and facilities

Taupō District Council provides and maintains sportsgrounds and indoor sports facilities for residents and visitors for club sports, competitions, representative matches, events or recreation. We endeavour to cater for a wide range of sporting codes including netball, softball, rugby, rugby league, touch and soccer.

Taupō sportsgrounds

Owen Delany Park

Location: Owen Delany Drive, Taupo

Owen Delany Park is Taupo's largest multi-purpose sports ground located just 4km from the Taupo CBD. A multi-purpose venue, Owen Delany Park has a capacity of 30,000 and is capable of hosting a variety of sporting and recreational events.

Crown Park

Location: Crown Road, Taupō

Hickling Park

Location: AC Baths Avenue, Taupō

Location: Kaimanawa Street/Rifle Range Road

Taupō indoor sports facilities

Taupō Events Centre - Indoor sports courts

Taupō Events Centre offers sporting groups a venue that is truly international. The complex was designed to cater for a wide and varied range of users and provides both the sporting fraternity and larger conventions a venue in which to meet. We have spectator seating for 1374 people on automatic retractable bleacher system that includes lower and upper levels for sporting events, and a new high class lighting system in place. We have three sports time clocks with the ability to be programmed for specific sessions.

Taupō Events Centre court hire

From large sporting events to casual users who want to play indoors for an hour, the venue is suitable for all. Court hire options start from as little as $26 per court, per hour through to whole stadium hire on a daily basis. Equipment rental is also available onsite.

Court setup can be as follows:

• Three full sized basketball courts, or one large court
• Three indoor soccer courts
• Three netball courts, or one large court
• Five tables on half court for table tennis
• Four courts of volleyball
• Eight badminton courts

• Monday to Friday: 6am to 9pm
• Saturday, Sunday and Public Holidays: 7am to 7pm
