AC Baths recognised for safety
22 March 2016
The community can rest assured they're in good hands at the AC Baths - it has been described as a model facility and has once again been PoolSafe accredited!
The accreditation means the complex has passed a series of tests and checks to ensure it is meeting industry standards for safety to limit serious harm in pools.
The assessor visited the AC Baths in February and said it was a model facility with staff who were well updated and in a good routine with training, policies and procedures.
Pools and activities operations manager Nigel Newbery said it was fantastic feedback for the AC Baths. We really pride ourselves on running a top quality facility so to hear we are doing that is great, he said. Full credit must go to the team on the ground - they really work hard to keep standards high.
Mr Newbery said the AC Baths had successfully been accredited since 2003, and the assessment was done annually at this time of year.
For us, it's a great way to ensure all our systems, processes and procedures are best practice and keeping people safe, he said.
The PoolSafe scheme was developed in 2001 by the New Zealand Recreation Association and Water Safety New Zealand. It is an independent assessment and currently 140 of the 214 public pools in New Zealand are registered members of the scheme.
