Council teams finalist for business awards
Taupo District Council teams have featured as finalists in the ServiceIQ Great Lake Taupo Business Awards 2017.
AC Baths Swim School was named as a finalist in the Zest Brokers Excellence in Business - Medium Business, Enterprise Great Lake Taupo Excellence in Innovation and the Quality Print Excellence in Sustainability categories.
Pools and activities operations manager Nigel Newbery said the recognition for the swim school was well deserved.
"I could not be more proud of the AC Baths Swim School and Contact Energy Swim Well teams for being finalists. They work so hard, often in pretty trying situations, so this is a true reflection of their commitment and dedication to what is an essential part of every child's education and life skills. I wish team the best of luck for the finals."
Taupo Emergency Management, consisting of the Civil Defence, Rural Fire and Community Engagement teams has been nominated in the Wairakei Resort Excellence in Leadership and the Vine Eatery and Bar Excellence in Community Contribution categories.
Taupo emergency manager Ian Connon said the finalist spot will mean a lot to many emergency management volunteers.
"This is fantastic recognition for the teams involved. Being named as a finalist goes some way to recognise the efforts of the volunteers within the community who do a lot, with most of this work going unnoticed. Congratulations so everyone involved."
Winners will be announced at the ServiceIQ Great Lake Taupo Business Awards gala dinner on August 4.
