Taupo Museum is celebrating the Chinese New Year - the Year of the Earth Dog - with an exhibit of dog-related sculpture and artworks.
Dog Show opens at 5.30pm on Friday, February 16, to coincide with the start of the Chinese New Year, in the Museum's Main Gallery. Exhibitions officer Kerence Stephen said all works have been created with recycled or repurposed materials to best reflect the 'earth' aspect of the Chinese year.
"We've had a great response to this exhibition, which will feature a wide variety of work by a range of creative people from various walks of life, from an established international artist to a master carver from Rotorua, several Taupo District artists, family groups, and a nine year old local boy."
Running alongside Dog Show will be an exhibition designed for our canine best friends, which will have interactive activities for dogs and their owners, so the public are welcome to bring well-behaved dogs when visiting. This exhibition will also feature information from Taupo District Council about dog ownership in our district.
