Contemporary hand-printed artworks by seven different Taupo artists will be showcased in an exhibition at Taupo Museum this month.
The exhibition, Print Still Works, features over 30 print works by local printmakers Sally-Ann Davies, Maggie Dawson, Marion Bright, Jacqui Goldsmith, Rosemary Peek, Heather McDonald and Christine Potter. These artists are a local sub-group of the Print Council of Aotearoa New Zealand that was formed to support, develop and extend the print practice of local artists.
Ms Davies said hand-printed artworks made using a wide range of traditional print-making techniques would be on show. "It shows the diversity of styles of traditional hand print-making," she said.
A feature of the show would be a display of tools and plates used during the print-making process that would give an insight into how prints were created, Ms Davies said.
The exhibition is open from Saturday, August 6 to Monday, September 12, with an official opening at 5.30pm on Friday, August 5. The museum is open seven days from 10am to 4.30pm. Entry is free to children and Taupo District residents with proof of address.
