More exposure with digital screen

A new digital screen has been installed at Tongariro Domain to replace the vinyl advertising banners previously located beside the Taupo i-SITE.

Taupo District Council sought feedback from the community on the installation of the screen as part of the Annual Plan process earlier this year. This followed earlier requests for proposals from which Taupo company Sign On was selected as the preferred supplier.

Sign On designed, manufactured, paid for and installed the sign, with the council only meeting the cost of getting power to the site.

Sign On owner Bevan Weal said the interest from advertisers had been fantastic and it was great the screen could advertise a number of events at once. The local tourism operators have really jumped on board with it, he said. It's driving people out to tourism businesses and letting both locals and visitors know what's out there.

Mr Weal was born and bred in Taupo and wanted to be involved with its promotion. My passion is the Taupo District and what it has to offer, he said. Having those big images and messages on the digital screen will really enhance our visitors' experiences.
