Playground upgrades for Taupo communities
If you're a regular at Spa Thermal Park or Mere Road playgrounds, you may notice a couple of new and exciting features have popped up!
At Spa Thermal Park, the sand play area has been replaced. The previous sand play area had deteriorated over the years, with broken parts and old equipment.
The upgraded area includes a fresh new design by the Playground People, with buckets, pulleys and features that will appeal to children aged between five and 12.
At Mere Road, we have installed a 'crazy daisy' feature. This will provide a great ride for the little ones and adds some more colour and fun to our playground.
The playground upgrades are part of our ongoing programme to improve children's play areas around the district. The playgrounds at Waitahanui and Anna Place Reserve in Tauhara are also scheduled to be upgraded in the next few months.
The ageing playground at Anna Place Reserve will be demolished and replaced with a new, more vibrant playground.
Parks operations manager Andrew Moor said the team was currently discussing options with the community and a timeline for construction will be set once a decision has been made.
"It's an exciting time for the Anna Place Reserve community because we get to hear their ideas and hopefully make some of them come to life," he said.
"We do our best to provide communities with playgrounds and recreation areas they use and enjoy, so we're looking forward to create a great new asset."
At Tutemohuta Reserve in Waitahanui a new slide will be installed, along with new seating and plants. Work will be getting underway later this month.
