Recognising our young people

Take the time to nominate a special young person for the Taupo Times 2014 District Youth Awards and help recognise the movers and shakers of the district's future.

The community has two weeks remaining to nominate a young person. The annual awards recognise exceptional achievement by Taupo District youth at school in years seven to 13. The awards are run in conjunction with Taupo District Council and nominations are now open.

There are four categories young people will be judged in: sports, leadership/innovation, academic and arts. Parents, friends, school teachers, coaches and club or organisation leaders can nominate a young person they think excels in any of these areas.

There are three school year categories to ensure fairness - years seven and eight, years nine to 11 and years 12 to 13. Nominations can be made before August 22.

The Taupo Times 2014 District Youth Awards will be held on September 15 at the Great Lake Centre.
