Taupō District Council advertising chief executive role
Taupō District Council is advertising its top management role as it looks to appoint a chief executive for the next five years.
Incumbent Gareth Green was appointed for an initial three year term. His contract expires in August this year.
Mayor David Trewavas said while the Local Government Act 2002 would allow for Mr Green's contract to be extended for another two years, the council had decided to re-advertise the position for a five year term.
With continuing growth in the district and a number of large projects expected over the next few years, the council wanted long-term stability in the top job, he said.
"It will be a robust and contestable process and we have engaged a recruitment specialist to assist us in ensuring we appoint the best person for the role," said Mr Trewavas.
"In the meantime, we have every confidence in Gareth and his abilities to lead the team while the recruitment process takes place."
The recruitment process is expected to be completed by the end of March.
