Turtle Pools to close temporarily for painting

The main pool at Turangi's Turtle Pools is getting a makeover from the end of this month, requiring the complex to close for 12 days.

The 25-metre pool is being repainted as part of its regular maintenance and work will begin on February 27, with the draining of the water. This whole complex will be closed from Monday, February 29 to Friday, March 11 due to noise, dust and work site hazards. The learners' pool, toddlers' pool and the deep pool will reopen on March 12, but the main pool will remain closed until just before Easter.

Taupo District Council's district parks and recreation manager John Ridd said the closure was planned for during the school term after the holiday rush. We are hoping to minimise any disruption for pool users, he said.
