A water hammer (a sudden change in pressure) has caused four mains to break in the area of Tamamutu Street, Rifle Range Road and Hatepe Avenue disrupting supply to about 50 properties in the area. A water tanker has been stationed at the corner of Tamamutu Street and Hatepe Avenue for people to fill their own containers.
The Downer crews are on site and repairs are underway.
UPDATE 9.50am: Hatepe Avenue repairs are now complete and those properties water supply has resumed. The replacement of the Tamamutu Street water main is underway, as per a planned shutdown for which letters were sent to affected residents a couple of days ago.
