Water restrictions have been lifted
14 April 2014
Water restrictions in the Taupō District have been lifted. Taupō District Council's infrastructure manager Denis Lewis said consistent rain over the past few days had seen the level of Lake Taupō rise above the trigger level for restrictions and it was continuing to rise. The MetService is predicting rain for Taupō for the next week.
The restrictions on sprinklers and irrigation systems were introduced on April 2 following a prolonged period of dry weather that led to low lake levels.
Mr Lewis thanked residents for limiting their water use over the last two weeks.
