Financial analysis approved for Turangi
A financial and rating analysis for Turangi has been approved by Taupō District Council to determine expenditure in the settlement after concerns were raised by residents at a public meeting last month.
At the meeting Turangi residents asked for an independent, external expert to be engaged to analyse the council’s finances and rates, with a specific focus on Turangi.
Head of regulatory and risk Brian Fox said the report would provide clarification of financial and rating data that would then be available to the council and the wider community.
“PricewaterhouseCoopers will undertake the project by meeting with key staff, obtaining all the relevant documentation and then developing findings and recommendations,” he said.
PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) was chosen to undertake the project at a cost of $16,500 of unbudgeted expenditure. A date for the analysis work will be mutually agreed on between the council and PwC and is yet to be confirmed.
