Random order for council candidate names
News
The 2019 Taupō District local authority elections will see candidates’ names listed on voting documents in random order.
The decision was made at the council’s March meeting with councillors in favour of keeping the same style of order as used for the 2016 and 2013 elections.
Random order means each voting paper lists candidates in a different sequence.
Councillors were able to choose between this, alphabetical order of surname and pseudorandom order which means the names are in random order but all voting papers are the same.
The 2019 Taupō District elections will be conducted by postal ballot on October 12, with candidate nominations opening on July 19.
