Sewer overflow near Two Mile Bay boat ramp
News
A sewer pipe blocked by wet wipes and sanitary items has caused an overflow into the lake beside the Two Mile Bay boat ramp.
Contractors are now onsite and have contained the overflow and removed the items blocking the pipe.
Head of operations Kevin Strongman said it is a timely reminder to be mindful of what you are flushing.
“Thank you to the vast majority of the community who are following the ‘three p’s rule’ – ensuring only pee, poo and (toilet) paper are being flushed,” he said.
“Anything else has the potential to block our sewer pipes and cause overflows into our beautiful lake.”
Water samples are now being collected and signs are in place advising the community to avoid swimming in the area until further notice.
