Construction of a footpath and kerb and channeling on Mapara Road started this week, with the first section of concrete kerb already poured opposite Acacia Heights Road.
The aim is to complete a 150-metre stretch down the road towards Acacia Bay, with basecourse being backfilled to reinstate the roadway up to the new kerb. This will be followed by the footpath construction behind the new kerbing.
The process will then continue on Mapara Road from Krissell Place to Acacia Heights Drive, with traffic being managed by traffic lights.
One lane will be closed during the day when works are being undertaken, with both lanes reopened at the end of each day with only the shoulder of the road closed at night.
The project is being undertaken by local contractors, TR Construction, with the footpath expected to be complete by the end of August, weather permitting.
