Five Mile Bay water infrastructure tracking well
Progress on the installation of new water infrastructure for Five Mile Bay is on track to be completed on budget and on time at the end of this month.
The project includes the laying of pipelines and connections along Tawhaa and Mahuta roads and access roads and tobies installed at property boundaries to enable residents to connect to a treated supply that complies with New Zealand Drinking-water Standards.
Currently, Five Mile Bay residents access water from bores and many in the community have expressed a desire to connect to the town supply.
Contractors are currently busy fitting the individual property connections.
The final piece of work will see contractors commissioning the reticulation, including flushing, sterilisation, further flushing and pressure testing before alerting residents and ratepayers they are able to have their plumber connect their properties and begin using the water.
The project was included in the Long-term Plan 2018-28. Residents can choose to have their connections activated, or not, and have been contacted individually to communicate their decision.
