Work on new dump station nearing completion
A new dump station serving recreational vehicles being constructed at Stag Park is nearing completion.
The station will provide an additional facility for caravan and campervan users to dispose of wastewater, and project manager Nick Beacock says work on the project is going well despite delays caused by COVID-19 restrictions and supply chain interruptions.
“We’ve worked with the New Zealand Motor Caravan Association on the design of the new station,” Mr Beacock said, “and the Stag Park site is perfect for the larger vehicles travelling around our district.”
“The site will be able to accommodate two lanes of vehicles, which will be great for the busy summer season, and can be used by both European and Japanese vehicles, which discard from opposite sides. Some landscaping was required to prepare the site, and we’ve used recycled, crushed concrete and pumice from our Broadlands Transfer Station as fill to achieve this, and following conversations with businesses in Stag Park we have widened the entrance road profile to improve heavy vehicle access. The wastewater infrastructure is now in the ground and we have already seeded the surrounding area, so the station is really starting to take shape.”
The project has a budget of $211,000 and is should be completed in early November. Access to Stag Park remains open and drivers are asked to drive safely around the work site.
