As part of our Road Safety event on Northcroft Domain last Saturday, Fire & Emergency NZ and St John provided a demonstration of how they free an injured person from a crashed car.
Once the scene has been made safe, the firefighters get to work removing the glass, the doors and the car roof to enable the person to be lifted out safely and without causing further harm. At the same time, St John paramedics are working to stabilise and treat the patient.
It was a sobering but fascinating watch to see how our road safety heroes help those who have been injured on our roads.
Drive safely, everyone.
