A big Taupō District welcome to everybody coming to town for the Taupō Marathon this Saturday 6 August. It’s true, the views from the Taupō lakefront simply can’t be beat, and this weekend’s course is built to showcase them at their best!
While there won't be any road closures, to help keep everybody safe during the event there will be temporary traffic control measures and speed restrictions in place between Tongariro North Domain (Redoubt Street) to Five Mile Bay on Saturday from 7am to 4pm. Please drive with extra care and keep an eye out for competitors on the course.
We recommend you give yourself a little more time than usual to get around town on Saturday while the marathon takes place.
Taupō Marina boat ramp, Two Mile Bay boat ramp and Three Mile Bay boat ramp will remain open however traffic control measures will be in place. Please act with caution if using the boat ramps on event day and keep an eye out for competitors and spectators in the area.
Make sure you head down and cheer on friends, family, and everyone else out there giving it a go - check out the map for the best viewing spots on the day - and best of luck to all competitors.
