Just in time for Easter and the school holidays, Council has completed the upgrades of hard court surfaces in River Road, Wairākei and Jarden Mile, as part of the Long Term Plan 2021-31. This follows on from work completed in Acacia Bay and Kinloch last year.
Taupō District Council team lead asset/cemeteries Kieran Smith says the freshly resurfaced courts have already been met with a real buzz from the communities around them.
“As with anything, over time things can begin to look a little tired or worn out and then become underutilised,” he says.
“I encourage everyone to enjoy the refreshed recreation sites this long weekend and into the future and also be mindful to look after them. Pulling sick skids across the courts on your bike might seem fun, but it isn’t great for the courts themselves.”
