Calling all schools, teachers, and students in the Taupō District!
In the spirit of keeping our district beautiful, we are supporting Keep New Zealand Beautiful Clean Up Week 2023 with a Clean Up Week all-schools competition between 16 to 22 September.
Clean Up Week will see Kiwis come together with their local communities to pick up litter. In 2022, more than 67,000 volunteers took part throughout New Zealand, collecting 655 tonnes of waste over an area equivalent to 5751 rugby fields. Awesome, right?!
This is the second year Taupō District Council is hosting the Clean Up Week all-schools competition. Last year, more than 500 students cleaned up their communities, collecting 300kg of rubbish in Taupō, Tūrangi, and Omori. What a fantastic effort by our local tamariki and rangatahi.
This year we’re hoping to get even more students on board and what better activity for the last week of the school term? So, parents and kids – let your teacher know about the Clean Up Week all-schools competition and get involved, it’s a great opportunity to make a positive impact in your local community.
Did we mention there are some awesome prizes up for grabs?
