The Taupō Ultramarathon is back this Saturday 14 October
The Taupō Ultramarathon is taking place this Saturday 14 October and the course is nothing short of breathtaking, literally.
The course winds its way through private farmland and along the stunning Great Lake Trails, so keep an eye out for plenty of runners. Competitors will go on a journey of volcanic discovery through lush native forest, past sparkling waterfalls, over deep gorges and down to the crystal-clear waters of Lake Taupō. EPIC!
There are individual and team events, ranging from a 24km walk to a 100km run. Due to multiple course lengths, there are various start lines for the event. Support friends or family by downloading the ultra-useful Athlete & Spectator Handbook here and grab the best viewpoints, plus important stuff like coffee and ultra-tasty food stops…
Competitors will take home not just fantastic memories but even locally made medals, so we are proud to be able to host this ultra-impressive event.
To keep everybody safe there will be traffic management in place and you can expect significant speed reductions from 3am on Saturday morning through to 3am Sunday morning, with some areas being lifted from 1am.
Please drive carefully and keep an eye out for competitors, support crews, spectators, and parked vehicles. Expect some congestion in and around Kinloch on the day, especially around the Kinloch Domain and Mata Place. Entry to the Marina is via Kinloch Road.
The following temporary speed reductions will be in place:
- 100km/ph to 50km/ph on SH32 Waihaha, Puketapu Road, Whangamata Road, Waihora Road and Otutira Drive.
- 50km/ph to 30km/ph on Mata Place and Mapara Road.
Best of luck to all the ultra-amazing competitors, supporters and event crew!!
