A big Taupō District welcome to everybody coming to town for the 2024 Taupo Marathon on Saturday 3 August.
It’s true, the views from the Taupō lakefront simply can’t be beat, and this weekend’s course is built to showcase them at their best!
The Great Lake Pathway will be used for the thousands of runners between Tongariro Domain and Mahuta Road, so take care or enjoy a stroll in one of our many beautiful parks and reserves.
Road closures and speed restrictions
To help keep everybody safe during the event there will temporary traffic control measures and speed restrictions in place between 7am to 4.30pm on Saturday 3 August.
Road closures:
🚫 Tongariro Street northbound from Ferry Road to Spa Road between 7am to 10.30am.
🚫 Tongariro Street southbound from Tūwharetoa Street to Roberts Street between 7am to 10.30am.
🚫 Tongariro Street cycle lane closed, and the bus stop will be temporarily relocated to Pāora Hapi Street for bus services between 7am to 4.30pm.
🚫 Roberts Street from Tongariro Street to Ruapehu Street between 7am to 10.30am
🚫 Ruapehu Street northbound from Lake Terrace to Roberts Street between 7am to 10.30am
🚫 Lake Terrace northbound from Titiraupenga Street to Ruapehu Street between 7am to 10.30am
🚫 Lake Terrace northbound from Mere Road to Titiraupenga Street including the Taharepa Reserve rest stop between 7am to 12.30pm
🚫 Mahuta Road northbound between 8am to 2pm
