Your Library Your Voice Survey
This is Synøve who can usually be found haunting the shelves at the Tūrangi Library.
We asked her why she is so passionate about the library and what it offers the local community. Completing the Your Library, Your Voice survey is a quick and easy way to have your voice heard.
Please fill it in and get your friends and whānau in the district to have their say too!
Why should everyone complete the Your Library, Your Voice survey?
Completing the survey is a great way for us to ensure the services we’re providing are what you, the community, want. We want to know what you get out of the library so that we can better target our resources to make it the best community resource we can!
What would you say to someone who thought the library was only for people to borrow books – is there more to it than that?
There is so much more! Libraries these days are a community hub, and the offerings are vast and varied. Some people come in for computer/internet access, some for the various social groups that meet regularly (including Toddler Times, genealogy groups, and book clubs), and some come in purely for somewhere warm and quiet to spend time with no expectations that they’ll have to spend money. We even have the AA Mobile Licensing Unit come to the Tūrangi Library once every couple of months so our patrons don’t have to travel all the way to Taupō or Taumarunui for their licensing needs! I personally still love the books though.
How long have you been working for the Tūrangi Library? What did you do prior to joining the Taupō District Libraries Team?
I’ve been working at the Tūrangi Library for almost five years, but prior to that I was a Postdoctoral Researcher in Chemistry at the University of New South Wales in Sydney.
What do you like most about working for the libraries?
I’ve always been a keen reader, so I love giving recommendations of my favourite books and getting recommendations in turn.
