The second to last section of sewer pipe was installed on Lake Terrace this week and now there's only one final section of pipe to go in the ground.
The last section of pipe will be installed via a trench so the team - and the road cones - will be largely off the road by the end of November.
There will be some localised areas under traffic management as we still have to link some existing pump stations to this new line and install things like valves. This piece of work involves putting holes in the ground so as usual, please be careful around the work sites.
We are also working on the pump stations that serve the pipe, so you will see the team installing these over the coming weeks. One pump station is going in at the end of Kara Place in Wharewaka and another at Kaimanawa Reserve. While the power supplies and control units are housed in sheds, the tanks and pumps will all be underground. The Wharewaka pump will be landscaped with native plants so that it blends into its surroundings.
Future-proofing the place we love has been a huge piece of work with some very challenging ground conditions. Thanks so much for your patience - the team really appreciate it!
