Level 1 water restrictions now in place for Kinloch
We're continuing to see very high water usage in Kinloch, so we are now moving to Level 1 water restrictions in the area and asking everyone in Kinloch to conserve water where possible.
This replaces the conserve water notice issued for Kinloch yesterday. Reducing your water usage, even just a little, will help take the pressure off our water team who are working hard to keep up supply.
- Sprinklers may be used on alternate days only in Kinloch, using the odds and evens system based on your street address.
That means if your address ends in 0, 2, 4, 6 or 8, you can use sprinklers on even calendar days. If your address ends in 1, 3, 5, 7 or 9, you can use sprinklers on odd calendar days.
- Hand-held hoses can be used anytime.
- Use water mindfully.
Here's a few ways you can use water mindfully and help to conserve water:
- Only flush your toilet if necessary - if it's yellow, let it mellow!
- Don't run water while washing teeth, preparing food etc.
- Wash only full loads in your washing machine or dishwasher.
Thanks for your help!
While restrictions are not in place for the rest of the Taupo District, we ask everyone to use water mindfully. If we all do our bit to conserve water, hopefully we won’t have any further restrictions.
