Opening hours and services on Waitangi Day 2025

Here’s a few quick reminders about our opening hours and services on Waitangi Day, Thursday 6 February 2025.

  • Kerbside rubbish and recycling collections will be running as normal. If Thursday is your normal pickup day please make sure everything is kerbside by 7.30am as usual.
  • Our Customer and Visitor Information Centres in Taupō and Turangi will be open 10am to 1pm. The Mangakino Service Centre is closed for the day.
  • Landfill and transfer stations will be open and you can find our opening hours at www.taupodc.govt.nz/rubbish
  • AC Baths open from 7am to 7pm.
  • Turtle Pools open 8.30am to 6pm.
  • Taupō Museum open from 10am to 4.30pm.
  • All of our libraries will be closed for the day.

Waitangi Ki Tūrangitukua 2025

Waitangi ki Tūrangitukua kaupapa kicks off at 10am Thursday 6 February at Te Kapua Park in Tūrangi with live entertainment, a tamariki zone, kai/pakihi stalls and more!

It will be an awesome day out for the whole whānau with performances by Te Omeka Perkins (House of Shem), TJ & Huri Daughters of Ally, Mahi Par, F.L.B, Beat Girls and Tūwharetoa Kapa Haka Roopu.

Entry is free.
